Proof of Acceptance 

Proof of acceptance is one of the most important Study permit Canada requirements. The proof of acceptance refers to the Letter of acceptance provided by the university. Original and electronic copies of the same are valid. The proof of acceptance is generally of two types:

  • Unconditional acceptance: It means that the student has been accepted to the university. 
  • Conditional acceptance: If the student meets the conditions, then he/she will be accepted to the university. Those who have been conditionally accepted are required to take prerequisite courses at the university. For example, French or English courses before enrolling in the main course. Under these conditions, a student will be issued a study permit only for the duration of the course 1 year. Post acceptance to the main program a student would have to apply for a study permit.
  • The proof of acceptance is not required by the family members of the student

Proof of Identity

Another Study permit Canada requirements is the proof of identity. It means the student and his/her family members must submit identity documents. The essential proof of identity required for Canada is a passport/travel document, two recent passport-size photos, name, and date of birth of the student must be specified in each photograph.

Proof of Finances 

Another Study permit Canada requirements is the proof of finances. This can be done by submitting the following documents:

  • The applicant must have a Canadian bank account in their name 
  • Those who have transferred money to the country must submit a GIC from the participating Canadian institution.
  • 4 months bank statements, and proof of education/student loan

  • Additionally, the applicant must have sufficient funds to pay the housing expenses/tuition fees
  • A letter from the institution/person giving the applicant funds
  • Those who have scholarship funding must prove that it has been paid from within Canada
  • The applicant must have minimum funds to support themselves and their family

Other than the documents mentioned above, there are other documents that an applicant might need. If the following documents are requested, the applicant must submit the same. 

Letter of Explanation

The applicant must explain the reason for studying in Canada. Moreover, the applicant must declare in the letter that he/she understands the responsibilities of studying in the country. This is an important study permit Canada requirement that all applicants must fulfil. 

Quebec Acceptance Certificate

The Quebec Acceptance Certificate is one of the important Study Permit Canada Requirements. The document is needed by those who have to study in Quebec for longer than 6 months. The attestation of issuance of the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) provided by the Quebec government has to be submitted. Those who are planning to study in the region for less than 6 months do not need to submit a QAC.

  • The applicant wants to stay in the country longer than 6 months 
  • Traveled in specific countries, or wants to work in specific jobs where public health can be compromised 

Custodian declaration (minor children)

  • Students who are studying in Canada less than 6 months 
  • The staff of foreign representatives 
  • Foreign armed forces members listed under the Visiting Forces Act
  • Those holding the status as ‘registered Indians’ in Canada
  • Minor children in Canada. For example, refugees, children of refugees, etc
  • Asylum seekers, temporary residents enrolled in French or cultural courses
  • Workers in Canada who are simultaneously studying 
  • Temporary residents enrolled in integration/settlement courses.
