Ans: In my opinion, I would strongly prefer to select my roommate because, at the end of the day, it is about my comfort. Choosing my roommate will not only allow me to ensure compatibility but also provide me the opportunity to live with someone with whom I can completely rely on. Living with someone requires a certain degree of understanding and shared habits. By choosing my own roommate I can ensure that our lifestyles and habits align, which can lead to a more harmonious living situation. It can include similar study habits, sleep schedules, and shared interests.
Secondly, if I choose my roommate it will provide me with a sense of security and a feeling that I can trust this person. It can also make the transition to a new environment, such as a university, less daunting. Moreover, having a friend as a roommate can help one provide emotional support during stressful exam periods or homesickness.
In conclusion, while letting the university assign a roommate can be convenient, I believe that choosing my own roommate offers more benefits in terms of compatibility and comfort.
