Q- Some people prefer to buy new books while some people would like to buy used books, what is your opinion.
Ans: I will always choose to buy secondhand or used books rather than new ones. Secondhand books, in my opinion, have their own distinct charm and personality. Some of the reasons I still prefer buying used books include the fragrance of lignin in old, used-up pages that have been tattered and yellowed over the course of time.
Furthermore, I feel that old books contain shards of a person’s distant past and memories. In other words, used books might be deemed as memoirs of their owners to some extent. A further practical benefit of buying used books is that they are significantly less expensive than new ones. I still reminisce about the time I bought a stack of books for less than Rs150 from the Daryaganj second-hand market. In essence, I believe that used books have a unique appeal and aura that cannot be duplicated by newly issued books.
