The home office had announced a 15% increase in the cost of a visit and work visa in UK. Furthermore, the cost of priority visas, student visas and certificates of sponsorship are increased by 20%. These hikes are in effect from today that is the 04th of October 2023.
UK student visa will now cost GBP 490 which is GBP 127 more than before. This implies that students who will be applying for a UK visa from today onwards will have to pay the new UK visa fee. The UK visiting visa fee has also been increased by GBP 15 making it GBP 115 in total.
This is for a visit visa that is under a duration of 0 to 06 months. If we compare these costs to the current value of the Indian Rupee compared to the Great Britain Pound, the UK student visa will cost INR 49234.87 and the visit visa will cost INR 11555.12.
Why Increase the UK Visa Fee?
The Prime Minister of UK announced back in July that the UK visa fee is going to increase from the 04th of October 2023. He also announced the increase in the Immigration Health Surcharge paid towards the National Health Services.
All these changes and fee hikes are implemented to increase the wages of public sector employees in the UK. Mr Sunak further added that this would help them build a sustainable immigration and nationality system in the United Kingdom.
