Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced several changes to the English test requirements for SDS applicants.
This new change is for those who want to apply through the Student Direct Stream (SDS) category and want to get a Canadian study permit.
They will no longer have to achieve a minimum score of 6.0 bands in individual sections in the IELTS exam. This change will begin starting in August.
New Changes Taking Place
Here is the list of all the changes which will begin for students as per the amendment of changes in IELTS.
- If the candidate is applying after 10th August 2023, to clear the exam, all they need is an overall score of 6.0 on IELTS Academic.
- However, if the candidate is planning to take the IELTS exam before 10th August 2023. They will have to get IELTS 6.0 band in each skill.
- Apart from this, if the applicant is applying with IELTS General Training, they will have to get 6.0 in each skill, before and after 10th August 2023.
One can also apply to SDS with IELTS Academic or General Training test scores which are 2 years old. The candidate will be able to use the scores they received before 10th August 2023 to apply to SDS. This will happen, once the changes take place.
Whenever these new changes come into effect, candidates will only have to get a score of 6.0. There is no set score for individual tests.
How Will These Benefit Students
- Students will now easily be able to go abroad in order to pursue their higher education.
- Since the set limit for the exam has been removed, candidates will no longer have the pressure to get a set score.
- By moving abroad, students will get exposure as well as several job opportunities.
If you are planning to go abroad for studies in Canada, then this is the best opportunity.
