The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is poised to undergo significant modifications to create clearer pathways for international workers to BC. The selection criteria is being updated to reflect better on the level of education, experience, and language abilities required for employment success in the province. What will be the three new BC PNP Streams?

In January 2025, three new streams will replace the current international graduate and international post-graduate streams:

Bachelor’s Stream- This stream will be open to recent graduates with bachelor’s degrees from qualifying post-secondary institutions. 

Master’s Stream- This stream is open to recent graduates with master’s degrees from approved post-secondary institutions in any field of study. This stream will be similar to Ontario’s Master’s Graduate Stream.

Doctorate Stream- This stream will be open to graduates and candidates for doctoral-level studies at qualified post-secondary institutions.

New Language Requirements

The minimal language competence level will be increased for all the BC PNP streams, with the exception of the Health Authority Stream, which has previously been changed. The new graduate streams will require at least a Canadian Language Benchmark proficiency.
