The Commonwealth Masters Scholarship applications are open for international students. The UK Foreign Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) funds the scholarship. The agency-nominated master’s program is one of the 3 master’s programs by the scholarship commission. The aim of these grants is to enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the skills required for sustainable development. Moreover, the scholarships aim to assist students who otherwise could not afford financial assistance.
The Commonwealth Masters Scholarships is a fully -funded scholarship program. However, the scholarships are only available to low and middle-income countries. The deadline for the scholarship application is 17 October 2023. Interested students can apply the same before the deadline.
Commonwealth Masters Scholarship Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the commonwealth masters scholarships are as follows. Interested students must meet the requirements for the application consideration.
- Must be a citizen of a commonwealth country, must have refugee status, or be a British-protected person
- A permanent resident of a commonwealth country and must be available to start studies in the UK in September 2024 (Commonwealth country example- India, Pakistan)
- Moreover, by September 2024, a student must either secure a 1st degree of at least upper second class (2;1) honors standard, or a lower second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (MA degree).
- The CSC will fund the second Masters degree. Those applying for the same must provide justification why they want to undertake the same.
- Additionally, the applicant must have a financial need to undertake the study and must have submitted all essential documents for the same.
Commonwealth Masters Scholarship Benefits
Commonwealth Masters Scholarship covers several benefits.The scholarship covers almost all expenses. The main benefits of the commonwealth masters scholarship is as follows :
- Travel expenses (airfare expenses from home country to the UK and return at the end of the award)
- Approved tuition fees (fees covered by an agreement between CSC and UK university)
- A living allowance of f £1,347/INR 1.40 lakh) per month, or £1,652 /INR 1.72 lakh per month for those in London
- Warm clothing (if applicable)
- Additionally, a travel grant to travel related to study within the UK or overseas is available
- A Scholar who has children and is a single parent, widowed, or divorced can receive an allowance of £576.61/INR 60,260.93 per month for the first child, and £143/14,943.46 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16.
- The family allowances are for contributions to cover some of the costs of maintaining the Scholar’s family in the UK.
