About Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship

Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship Scheme is an initiative of the Government of Sri Lanka to provide financial aid to international students. The Scholarship applies to various courses but only if they are Undergraduate or Bachelor’s degree programs. There are various exception courses which are not covered under this scholarship like Dentistry, Medicine and Engineering courses. Students who are wishing to apply for this scholarship can submit their application form to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Application Process 

Students who wish to apply for Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Government of Sri Lanka and download the application form 
  • The candidate must take 3 print-out copies of the application form
  • Under the scholarship tab on the official website of the Ministry of Higher Education, the applicant will be able to find the link to download the application form
  • The students are advised to fill out the form carefully to avoid any mistakes
  • Also, they need to write SOP and attach the required documents with the application form
  • After an applicant submits the application form to MHRD, it will be then forwarded to the MOHE, Sri Lanka

Eligibility Criteria 

There are certain prerequisites that a candidate must fulfil to be eligible for Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship. Mentioned below is the list of eligibility criteria for this scholarship:

  • The candidate must have clear class 12th from a recognised board
  • The applicant should not be more than 25yrs of age
  • With the application form, the candidate needs to attach the original letter issued by the board (from which the candidate has completed class 12th). The letter will authenticate if the education of the candidate is equivalent to the G.C.E (A/L) Exam of Sri Lanka

Terms and Conditions of Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship

An applicant needs to adhere to certain terms and conditions of the Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship:

  • Once a student gets admission to a course, they won’t be allowed to change their course or university
  • The scholarship holders will be bound by the rules and regulations imposed by universities in Sri Lanka for local students
  • The candidates who have not cleared their class 12th from English medium need to provide proof of English proficiency. Applicants, in this case, will only be considered for the Sri Lanka Presidential Scholarship if they secure at least a 525 score in TOEFL and a minimum bank score of 6.5 in IELTS
