IELTS Registration 2024: Step-By-Step Guide

IELTS slot booking or registration can be completed online or in person. This means that you have the option to book your test online or visit your nearest IDP branch. Now, those who wish to register for their IELTS online must adhere to the following steps. 

  • Visit the IELTS website and select the “Register for IELTS” option. 
  • Choose your preferred test format: computer-delivered or paper-based (options include IELTS, IELTS for UKVI, or Life Skills).
  • Carefully select the test module: Academic or General Training for IELTS, IELTS for UKVI, or A1 and B1 for Life Skills.
  • Pick your desired test centre city from the available locations in India.
  • After selecting your preferences, a list of available test dates will appear. Choose your preferred date and time slot.
  • Complete the online application by filling in the required details. Don’t forget to upload a clear, scanned colour copy of your passport.
  • Finally, proceed to pay the test fee.

Upon booking your test date, you’ll receive confirmation via your registered email or phone number. For paper-based IELTS only, you can schedule your Speaking test slot online at your preferred date and time. If you don’t choose a slot within the given timeframe, one will be assigned automatically.

Those who wish to sit for the IELTS Offline exam must book their slots in the nearest test centres. Such candidates can refer to the following steps through the offline slot booking process. 

  • One must go to the official website of IELTS. 
  • Once done with that, candidates must locate the test centres that are near their residences. 
  • Candidates must register themselves on the website and submit the requisite application fee. 
  • Applicants must submit a registration fee of INR 17,000. 
  • Once the applications are evaluated by authorities, candidates will receive a confirmation from the test centres.
  • Candidates should not exceed the age limit of 16 years. 
  • Aspirants must procure their identity proof, such as passports, during the time of examination.
