Richmond Scholars Program Application Process and Eligibility Criteria
The aim of the Richmond Scholars Program is to nurture deserving students who have the potential to become future leaders and succeed. It is a merit-based scholarship offered to undergraduate students (open to all nationalities) who provide proof of excellent academic performance and leadership and volunteer work. The desired candidate would also be someone who is able to showcase interest in diversity and inclusiveness in the community and has a strong sense of purpose.
There is no separate application process in order to apply for Richmond Scholars Program as all first-year students are automatically eligible for this scholarship. The only condition is that the student should have completed the admission application form by 1st December. Students who are shortlisted for the final round will be notified about their status on the Spider portal by February 1.

Expenses Covered under Richmod Scholars Program
Richmond Scholars Program is the most prestigious and competitive scholarship which is awarded to 25 excellent students who have applied for an undergraduate program in any field at the University of Richmond. The award covers full tuition fees, food and housing expenses (along with other program benefits). The scholarship is renewable for eight semesters over the course of 4 years for full-time programs.

Other Undergraduate Scholarships Available at the University of Richmond

- Presidential Scholarship – These scholarships are awarded on merit-basis and cover one-third of the tuition fees. It is given to the students who have achieved excellent grades in their high school and have been a part of a rigorous curriculum. The award is given to only 10% of incoming students who have applied for first-year admission. The students do not need to fill out an application form for this scholarship as all the 1st year students are automatically considered for this award.
- Oliver Hills Scholars – For up to eight consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment, Oliver Hill Scholars are eligible to receive a combined merit grant worth 50% of their tuition (inclusive of the Presidential grant worth 1/3 of tuition and the additional Oliver Hill Scholar award). A one-time enrichment grant of up to $3,000 is also given to scholars to fund an authorised student-selected activity that improves their academic experience.
- Bonner Scholars Program – The Bonner Scholars programme recognises up to 25 first-year students who have a record of community service. A $3,000 stipend is given to Bonners in exchange for their ten hours per week of volunteer work in the community. For eight full college semesters, the prize is re-eligible. Up to $5,500 is also given to Bonners to help with summer internship expenses.
