Q. Student travel to study is overrated, we have brilliant scholars who studied locally. Is travel required for higher studies?
Ans. The idea that students have to travel for higher studies is overrated and unnecessary is something that I agree with. Various scholars have pursued their education locally and have made a significant amount of contribution to society.
Quality education is not dependent solely on geographical location. Many top institutions and universities, within one’s nation, provide high-quality education and are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. For example, in India, colleges such as IIM and IITs nowadays provide top-notch facilities and all of the students that come there have all-rounder development. They also have experienced faculty and comprehensive curriculums which help in nurturing brilliant minds. In addition to this, a student who is studying locally stays connected with their cultural roots and family. It provides them with a sense of security as they constantly have a strong support system during challenging times, thereby enhancing academic performance and personal growth.
Moreover, due to the advancements in digital technology, the world has become a globalized place. Various online learning platforms such as YouTube channels and digital libraries like Kindle have emerged. International webinars have also helped people gain global experience from the comfort of their homes. This global connectivity helps supplement local education, making physical travel unnecessary. A student thus gains valuable insights while staying in the home country.
To conclude, studying abroad indeed offers unique experiences and perspectives that are required to achieve brilliance in academics. However, local education, if supplemented with digital resources fosters intellectual growth and success. The brilliance of a scholar relies on their dedication, hard work and passion for learning, irrespective of geographical location.
