PTE Daily Essay Topic: It is argued that getting married before finishing school or getting a job is not a good choice.

Q. It is argued that getting married before finishing school or getting a job is not a good choice. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Ans. The decision to marry is a deeply personal one, often fraught with societal expectations and individual aspirations. Intertwined with this choice is the question of timing, particularly around achieving milestones like educational completion and professional stability. However, I do believe that getting married before finishing your school or getting a stable job is not a good choice.

Arguments against early marriage often emphasise the importance of establishing personal independence before undertaking the responsibilities of a marital partnership. Education unlocks potential and expands career options, offering financial security and independence. Gaining work experience fosters maturity, teaches life skills, and provides a foundation for shared financial decision-making within a marriage. Additionally, individuals experience personal growth and self-discovery during their formative years, and delaying marriage allows them to solidify their identities and goals before merging them with another’s. This is why it is crucial for people to first achieve that level of maturity by completing their school and getting a proper job before getting married.

Moreover, getting married early can disrupt both academics and personal lives. Imagine a young person juggling the demands of a marriage alongside school responsibilities. Instead of focusing on personal growth and discovering who they are, they might find themselves dealing with the challenges of married life. For instance, managing a household and potentially raising a family takes time and energy that could be spent on studying and self-discovery. This dual responsibility can lead to stress, affecting mental well-being and making it harder to succeed in school. In simpler terms, early marriages not only impact academic achievements but also hinder the crucial process of figuring out one’s identity and building a solid personal foundation.

In summary, marrying before securing a stable job or completing education may not be advisable. Waiting until after achieving these milestones allows for personal growth, financial stability, and a stronger foundation for a successful marriage.
