Therefore, if you want to study Bachelor’s or Master’s program, this is the visa you need to apply for. A Lithuanian student visa is given for up to a year.

However, you can apply for a temporary residence permit for a long time. A Lithuania temporary residence permit is a permit you can obtain after you have reached the country on a D visa. A temporary residence permit will allow a long-term stay in the country.

What are the Lithuania Student Visa Requirements?

The Lithuania student visa requirements are the documentation requirements you need to meet for a successful visa application process. All of these requirements are equally important. Therefore, you must not miss any. The following are the Lithuania student visa requirements:

  • Submission of the visa application form electronically by visiting the website: visa. vrm. lt/epm/
  • Next, you must submit a valid travel document that is issued within the last 10 years and must contain 2 blank pages. Moreover, this travel document (for example, a passport), must be valid 3 months beyond the duration of stay.
  • Additionally, you must submit I colour photograph with a white background that is taken within the last 6 months. The photograph dimensions required are (35×45 mm)
  • You must also submit a mediation letter provided by the higher school. You can receive the mediation letter through EPIS.
  • Additionally, you must provide proof of finances. That is, you have additional funds (apart from your tuition fees) to cover your expenses (around EUR 40 per day).
  • You must also present proof of health insurance that is applicable in all Schengen countries. The minimum amount of health insurance you need is of EUR 30,000.
  • Apart from that, you need to pay the fee of EUR 60.

Lithuania Student Visa Application Process

  • Get an offer letter from a university in Lithuania 
  • After that, you can schedule a visa appointment with the Lithuania embassy or consulate in your home country
  • At this stage, you are required to complete your visa application form. You must gather the required documents and submit the same
  • In-person attendance on the visa appointment date, and payment of the visa fee
  • After you have received this visa, you will become eligible to apply for a Temporary residence permit
  • Next, you can visit the  e Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS) and register for the permit
  • Lastly, submit the required documents for the temporary residence permit within 4 months of electronic registration.

IELTS is a widely accepted English language test. Therefore, you can submit your IELTS score for admission. However, if you don’t want to take the IELTS exam, you can choose to clear an alternative English language test. For example, TOEFL. Either way, clearing the English language test is mandatory for admission. Therefore, it is mandatory to obtain a Lithuanian student visa. 

Can I Bring my Family to Lithuania While Studying?

Unfortunately, no. You cannot bring your family members with you on a student visa. However, your family members can visit you on a tourist visa. Later on, they may be eligible to apply for a temporary residence permit.

On the other hand, nationals of EU/EFTA/EEA countries can bing theri family members for 90 days on a student visa. Such dependents can seek permission from the Minister of the Interior’s official certificate for more duration of stay.

Can International Students Get PR in Lithuania?

You can obtain a D visa and visit the country on a student visa. Later on, you can apply for a temporary residence permit. International students who have lived in Lithuania for at least 5 years continuously on a temporary residence permit can apply for a PR. A Lithuania Permanent Residence Permit is given for 10 years.
