Is it Hard to Get a 500 on the Gmat?

The answer is yes. The GMAT examination is a difficult examination. Although 2 lakh applicants take this examination only 6% of the applicants are able to score 700 or more. Moreover, the top 10 business schools in the world accept scores of 720 or above. Hence, the examination is considered to be a challenging one.

What Makes the GMAT Exam Hard?

The GMAT examination is considered to be a difficult examination. There are several reasons for this. These reasons are listed below:

• The examination is computer-adaptive. That is, the difficulty level of the next question depends on how the candidate has answered the previous question. It means if a student has answered a question correctly the next question of the same section will be of a higher difficulty level.
• The GMAT examination content is based on high school studies. For example, algebra, statistics, geometry, etc. However, the examination tricks the students into opting for the wrong answer,
• The GMAT examination is time-bound and the format tests the integrated reasoning, analytical writing, quantitative reasoning, and verbal reasoning skills of a student. The candidate is measured on these skills. Hence, a student needs to have a stronghold of all sections to score well.

Is It Hard to Get a 500 on the Gmat?

No. It is not difficult to score 500 on the GMAT examination. The National average of the GMAT test takers tends to be around 540-550. Hence, with an adequate amount of preparation, students can score 500+ on the examination. However, scoring 500 on the GMAT examination is considered below average.

Students who are aiming to score 500 on the GMAT test must get at least 50% of the questions from the quantitative section and verbal section correct. Hence, high accuracy is not needed. By getting around half of the questions right it is possible to secure a score of 500.

What does a GMAT score of 500 mean?

A GMAT score of 500 would mean that a student has performed below average. However, the candidate will still be able to get into some of the colleges. On the negative side, such students may not be competitive enough to get into a graduate program of their choice. The GMAT examination scores are generally on a scale of 200 – 800 points. The average score of the candidate is 552 points. 

Percentile Ranking

The GMAT examination has come up with a percentile ranking in addition to a raw number. As per the percentile ranking the higher the rank, the more competitive the score is.
