23 February: IELTS Writing Task 1 – Write a letter to your manager.

Q – You work for an international company, and would like to spend six months working in its head office in another country.

Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:

• explain why you want to work in the company’s head office for six months
• say how your work could be done while you are away
• ask for his/her help in arranging it

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Mr Smith,

The purpose of this letter is to express my interest in working at the company’s head office in another country for a period of six months. I am writing to express my interest in the possibility of working at our company’s head office in the USA for the next six months. As an employee of our international company, I am excited about the prospect of gaining first-hand experience and knowledge of the company’s operations at our head office.

Working at the head office would provide me with a unique opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and contribute to the success of the company in a new environment. Additionally, I believe that this experience would enable me to develop new skills and perspectives that I can bring back to my current role and benefit our team.

In terms of my work, while I am away, I have already taken the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. I have discussed my responsibilities and workload with my team members, and we have identified specific tasks that can be delegated to other colleagues while I am away. Furthermore, I will be available to communicate with my team via email and video conferencing to ensure that any pressing issues are addressed in a timely manner.

I would be grateful if you could provide guidance on the necessary steps I need to take to secure this opportunity. I am available to discuss this matter further and answer any questions you may have.
