Bulgaria Visit Visa Requirements: Documents 

The Bulgaria visit visa is granted only if you submit the necessary documents. The general documents you need for the visa are as follows:

Visa Application Form, and a  Passport

You need to fill out the C visa application form in either English or Bulgarian. You must also have a valid passport. The passport must have been issued in the last 10 years and must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay. You need to submit copies of your passport, if any.

A Photograph

You need to submit a photograph,5 cm х 4,5 cm. This must be a colour photograph taken against a light background.

Proof of Medical Insurance 

As per the Bulgaria visit visa requirements, you must submit proof that you have medical insurance. A Bulgarian visit visa allows you to visit other Schengen states. Therefore, you need a minimum of EUR 30,000 for 3 months of stay. The medical insurance must be valid in all the Schengen states.

Cover Letter 

You must submit a cover letter. The cover letter must state your purpose of stay. You must also submit your detailed itinerary including details of your location. 

Proof that You Have Sufficient Funds 

You must have sufficient funds to cover your expenses for the duration of your stay. Typically, you are required to have at least EUR 50 per day for the duration of your stay. As proof you can submit your-

  • 3 months’ bank statements (current/savings account)
  • 3 years ITR (personal/company)

Proof You Have Funds to Purchase an Air Ticket

Additionally, you are required to prove that you have funds to purchase an air ticket to return to your home country. Otherwise, you must have already booked the ticket to return to India,

Proof of Accommodation in Bulgaria

Since you are going to stay in Bulgaria you need to submit proof that you have arranged your accommodation. This can be a hotel booking, private accommodation or any other form of accommodation.

If you are not a citizen of India, you need to submit an Indian residency permit or visa as proof that you will return to India after your stay.

Proof of Your Current Social & Economic Status 

Another document you need to submit is proof of your social status in India. For this, you can submit-

  • A letter from your employer stating that you are on leave, and you will continue to work after your stay in Bulgaria. A salary certificate for the last 3 months needs to be submitted.
  • If you are self-employed you can submit your ownership papers
  • If you are going to undertake a business activity you need to submit a visa request letter to the official head of the company.

Additional Documents to be Submitted by Minor Applicants 

The parents or the legal guardians of a minor need to submit a 

  • Birth certificate if you are a legal guardian
  • The decision of the competent authority (if you are a legal guardian)

If the minor is travelling alone, a notarized consent letter from both parents or legal guardians has to be submitted.

Invitation Declaration 

As per the Bulagrai visit visa requirements, you need to submit an invitation declaration. The invitation declaration would depend on the purpose of your visit. For example,

  • For individual tourism- You only need to arrange your accommodation in Bulgaria (for example, hotel booking), and have a return ticket to India.
  • For group tourism- The tourist voucher of the travel agent, list of all the people in the group, and documents of tourists by the travel agency.
  • Private visit-  An invitation of declaration to the Republic of Bulgaria must be submitted.
  • Cultural exchange- Invitation declaration from the  Ministry of Culture or Mayor
  • Sports- Invitation declaration from the sports club or the Ministry of Youth in  Bulgaria.
  • Medical reason – Certificate from the medical facility. A detailed treatment plan must also be included. You also need to submit a summary of discharge from the local hospital.

Follow the steps below to apply for a visit visa to Bulgaria.

  • Download the C visa application from the VFS Global website 
  • Fill out the form, read the Bulgaria visit visa requirements, and gather the relevant documents
  • Get an appointment at a visa application centre and on the date of your appointment bring your documents along with you. For the first application, you need to personally visit the application centre.
  • Submit your biometric information, and pay the visa fees
  • Your application will be processed and you will be informed of the status of your application
