What is the Difference Between Simile and Metaphor?

The difference between simile and metaphor is a little confusing, but not hard to understand. They both compare two things. Let us understand the difference between simile and metaphor with examples:

Simile Metaphor 
In simile, we compare two things by using the words “like” and “as”In metaphor, we compare two different things without using words like “like” and “as” 
Simile uses words “like” and “as”, but not every sentence of like and as is a simile. Metaphor uses words “is”, “are”, “was”, “were”
