Nouns

A noun, also part of the speech refers to a person’s animal, place or thing’s name. Here are some examples of nouns that can be used in a sentence. 

  • People’s names like: Anant, Radhika, Anjali etc
  • Animals like: birds, cats, zebra, lions etc
  • Things like: tables, chairs, pencils, pens etc.
  • Places like: houses, schools, hospitals etc.

Adjectives 

An adjective also known as a describing word is used to describe someone’s colour, size, shape, feeling etc. Check out some examples of how adjectives can be used in sentences:

  • My notebook is green in colour.
  • Zebra is black and white
  • Let’s go for a morning walk.

Words

It is a basic element of language that carries meaning and is used to make a sentence. Check out some of the examples below to get a better understanding of the same:

  • He is good at learning. 
  • She exercises every morning. 

Verbs

Verbs are action words that are part of the English language. They describe an action that is happening in a sentence. Here are some examples of verbs which will help you understand what verbs in a much better way.

  • We are going to my favourite restaurant to eat dinner.
  • My teacher gave me great advice today.
  • She gained several new friends in her first year at college. 
  • Virat Kohli is currently playing cricket at the Wankhede Stadium.

Adverbs

An adverb is a word that tells something more than verbs such as daily, quickly, inside, under, above, here, early, late, happily, loudly etc.

  • She dances gracefully.

  • He saw many crows outside the house.

Pronouns

A pronoun is a word that we use in place of a noun in a sentence. Check out the example sentences that can be used:

  • You are my best friend.

Conjunction

A conjunction also known as connecting words is used in sentences to connect two sentences to make sense. They are used before a noun or pronoun to show direction, location, place, time etc.

  • We like to play because it gives us joy. 

Preposition

Prepositions are words or a group of words that are used before a noun or a pronoun. They are used to show location, direction etc.

Tenses
