We went on a camel safari in the Thar Desert, which is the largest desert in India. Our guide told us it covers about 2,00,000 square kilometers. My camel’s name was Raju, and he was tall and calm. Camels are called the “ships of the desert” because they walk easily on sand. Did you know a camel can drink up to 40 litres of water at once? We started our safari in the evening when the heat was less. The sand dunes were huge, and the wind made the sand dance. As the sun set, the whole desert turned golden orange—it was like a painting. We also visited the Sam Sand Dunes, where many tourists come every year. At night, we stayed in a tent. There was Rajasthani folk music, Kalbelia dance, and even puppet shows.
