But have we ever stopped to ask ourselves, “Am I using it in the right way?” This is where ethics come in.

Ethics means choosing to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Social media is a powerful tool. If used properly, it helps us grow. But if used wrongly, it can harm us and others. According to reports, more than 4.95 billion people worldwide were using social media by early 2025. That’s over 60% of the global population. That means anything we post online can reach thousands, even millions of people.

Let me now share some important ethical rules we must follow while using social media:

1. Speak with kindness: We must never use hurtful words online. Even if we disagree with someone, we should express our views respectfully. Online words can deeply hurt others, sometimes more than we realize.
