Write a Letter To Your Friend About Your Summer Holidays

Dear Abhishek,

I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. I am also doing well on this side and am writing about my experience with you about my incredible summer holidays that made me relaxed as well as refreshing. 

My summer vacation started the first week of May. After completing our important assignments, I and my best friend were set to go on a proper vacation. We booked a two-week outdoor adventure camp in the early month of April, as the camp is restricted to a limited number of people. I had always wanted to camp at Sitlakhet, Uttaranchal. Let me tell you that the experience was much more beautiful than expected. 

Sitlakhet is a lesser-known tourist destination. It is located about 24 kilometres from Queen Meadows, with amazing views of the Himalayas. Sitlakhet, which is another destination of snow and solitude, has amazing, beautiful scenery with lush green meadows, pine and deodar forests, and stunning mountain views all around.

My friend Rhear and I were super excited for our 14-day camping trip to Sitlakhet. We took an overnight bus from Delhi to Chamba, and from there we hired a private taxi that drove us the remaining 24 kilometers uphill to Sitlakhet. The scenery, with forests, valleys, and fog, is indescribable. Upon reaching our destination in the camp, we were warmly welcomed by the staff of the hotel. 

After checking in, we were shown our tent, which was quite spacious and had all the necessary amenities for the camp. Our whole Sitlakhet camp was packed with adventures like hiking, cliff climbing, bird watching, river rafting, night treks, and beautiful nights with bonfires. I enjoyed making bonfires, outdoor cooking, managing to live in tents, and reading maps. Along with us, many school students enjoy the track the same as us. During our leisure time, we played badminton and volleyball and, meanwhile, enjoyed the cool breeze. 

On our last night in Sitlakhet, the hotel staff arranged a small get-together party with singing, dancing, and delicious authentic food around a bonfire. Rhea and I had the best time of our lives and promised to have further trips like this shortly. 

The next day, we said bittersweet goodbyes to the gorgeous valley. Back home, I described our epic adventure to our families and friends. This summer vacation in Sitlakhet marked the beginning of my love for nature. I have been making love for a long, arduous journey and will often go solo hiking in the Garhwal Hills of Uttranchal.

Dear Rashmi,

How are you doing? I’m hoping all is well with you. In my case, I’m doing great. I haven’t written to you in a very long time. I have been waiting to meet you so that I can tell you about my summer vacation experience at my grandmother´s home. 

My school was closed for summer vacation last month. After a couple of days, I requested my parents take me to my grandmother’s house for the summer vacation holidays, as it was a long time to see and meet her. At my request, they reserved the seats on the train, and the whole family came along. The fast ride on the train soon reached the station near my grandmother´s village. She was standing there to welcome all of us. It felt pleasant to see her familiar and refreshing smile. 

She hugged all of us, and we reached our destination soon with the local transportation of the village. The old ancestor’s house, which was big and beautiful with an old and traditional structure, made me overwhelmed. Grandma offered us handmade sweets and delicious snacks. It was the perfect start to our vacation. Over the next two weeks, I and my mother enjoyed the best days of our vacations. We went to the nearby pond, explored new places for playing, and took care of the animals on the farm. Meanwhile, we also helped her collect eggs from the poultry farm. 

On the weekends, Granma took us to the local market. There, she purchased many toys and food items for her grandson and daughters. We all also went to the famous places in the local town and enjoyed the company of our dearest grandmother. 

Before I knew it, our two-week vacation was over. We were all so sad to leave our grandmother. Despite my request to accompany us, she denied it with a gracious smile and a promise that she would join the family soon. 

My days spent in the house of my grandmother for my summer vacations were the best days. It was relaxing, with refreshments and a break from my regular life. Furthermore, I am looking forward to my next holidays, when hopefully I will be able to visit Grandma´s house again.
