‘Hello and welcome to everyone present here. I am delighted to present my speech at Christmas. We all know that the entire world celebrates the 25th of December as Christmas Eve. But how many of us know what this festival means? What is the importance of Christmas in the Christian culture? When was the first time we celebrated Christmas?’

‘The Christmas celebration started in ancient Rome in the 4th century. During this time, Rome was ruled by Constantine, who was the first Christian King. Since then, Christmas celebrations spread to different parts of Europe and other continents.’

‘Christmas is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ. Christ is known as the Son of God. This festival is not a religious festival but is a season of love, kindness and goodwill. During Christmas, everyone finds solace in others’ company. For some, it might just be a day off from work or school, but this festival has a special meaning.’

‘It’s a celebration of hope and renewal. It’s that time of the year when we reflect on ourselves, appreciate the blessings we’ve received and look forward to future opportunities. The gifts and sweets we exchange on Christmas day tell how much we care and love each other.’

‘We all have done Christmas tree decorations at school, home and community centre, where gifts, starts, ornaments and lights were hung to make it look aesthetically pleasing. Christians visit the Church, attending the services including prayers, hymns and reflections on the birth of Jesus Christ.’

‘Then comes the Santa Claus and Stockings feature of the festival. Excited and eagerly we wait for Santa Claus to give us gifts while we are asleep. The next morning starts with us looking at our gifts given by Santa, thanking him for his kindness and love for all of us.’

‘So this Christmas Eve, let us spread the message of love, hope and joy to everyone. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and may the warmth of the season stay with all of you throughout the coming year.
