‘Hello and welcome to everyone present here today. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone present here with me on this special day; my 18th birthday. I have so many childhood memories with you guys, where we laughed, played, shared jokes, and were there for each other in need.’

‘I know that legally I will be enjoying certain rights, can issue a driver’s license, can drive and stay out late at night. But I am also aware of my responsibilities and career goals. I know the importance of being an adult. It means no more pampering, not because I am an adult, but because I have to become responsible for taking care of myself and my parents. Today, I want to share a few thoughts as I embark on this exciting chapter of my life.’

Starting with my deepest appreciation to my parents, who have always been there. From the first day of school to the day I graduated from high school, they have always provided me with material and financial support. Their love and support is the foundation of my dreams. 

Thanks to all my friends for the laughter, moments of joy and their companionship. My friends, you added colours to the canvas of my life, and I will be forever grateful for the strong bond we all share. 

I feel a little sad as I will be missing the good old days, my parents pampering me and me behaving like a child. As I step into adulthood, I am aware of all the responsibilities that I have to take care of.
