OTET FAQs 2023 

The Official Website of the OTET Exam is www.bseodisha.ac.in/otet-examinations. One can find the official notification, application form, admit card, answer key and results on the official website. 

The OTET Exam is conducted offline by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The exam is conducted to recruit students in various schools within the state jurisdictions. 

The OTET Exam will be conducted in the month of April or May 2023. The exam was supposed to be conducted in the month of January 2023 but was postponed. The application for the same began last year in the month of October.   

The notification for the next recruitment cycle of the OTET exam will be released by the end of this year, probably in the month of October 2023. The official notification will contain dates for the examination for the recruitment cycle of 2023-2024.  

The online application forms are released by the Board of Secondary Education usually in the month of October every year. The candidates are given a good amount of time to complete the online application form.

Yes, the eligibility requirements for the OTET Exam 2023 are that the candidate must have completed their graduation or an equivalent diploma in any field. The candidate should have attained at least 50% marks in the graduation subjects to be eligible.  

To be eligible for the OTET Exam 2023 the candidate must first be a resident of domicile Odisha. For Paper 1, they must have completed their Higher Secondary Education with at least 50% marks in the final examination and a 2-year diploma in Special Education. For Paper 2, the candidate must have attained 50% marks in Graduation along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 

The age limit for the OTET Exam 2023 is as follows: the candidate must have attained the minimum age of 21 years, and there is no upper age limit to apply for this exam.  

The candidates must visit the official website for the OTET Exam application form. Then register by giving the name, and email id and setting up a password. Use the login credentials to access the online application form. Complete the application, review and pay the application fee. After taking a print of the form the candidates can submit it.  

The OTET application form is available online on the official website of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The candidates can access and submit the form online.   

Yes, OTET Application has to be submitted with an application fee of INR 500 for General, SEBC and OBC Candidates and INR 300 for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. 

The syllabus for OTET Exam 2023 will include the following in Paper 1: Child Development & Pedagogy; Language-I with options in Odia, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu, and Bengali; Language-II (English); Mathematics and Environmental Science. 
The syllabus for Paper 2 includes Child Development and Pedagogy; Language-I with options between Odia, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu or Bengali; Language II (English); the last section is a choice between Mathematics and Science or Social Studies. 

Both paper 1 and paper 2 in the OTET Exam have options for languages between Odia, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu, and Bengali. In paper 2 the candidates additionally have a choice between Mathematics and Science or Social Studies.  

The Child Development and Pedagogy section in Paper 1 includes topics such as Understanding Child Development during Childhood focusing on primary children, Understanding the Learning Process and Learners, Concept of Inclusive Education and Understanding Children with special needs, Approaches to teaching and learning and Assessment.  
The same section in paper 2 consists of Child Development with special emphasis on Upper Primary School Children, Learning and Curriculum Teaching-Learning Approaches and Evaluation.

There are 150 questions in the OTET Exam Paper 1 and 150 questions in the OTET Exam Paper 2. 

All the questions in the OTET Exam Paper 1 and Paper 2 are in the Multiple Choice Question format. Each question has 4 options to choose from and only one of them is correct.  

No, there is no negative marking in the OTET Exam. Each question carries one mark.

According to the Board of Secondary Education, the candidates must note that the paper will be based on NCTE Guidelines and even though the prescribed syllabus is from class 1 to class 5 the difficulty level of the questions will be up to the secondary education stage. 

The passing score that the candidate must achieve in order to pass the OTET Exam 2023 is 60%. For candidates who belong to the reserved categories, a score 50% marks will be considered Pass. 

OTET Scores are valid for a term of 7 years from the date of examination. The candidates can apply in the Odisha Teacher Recruitment process for 7 years without giving the test again. They must however ensure they fall in the latest eligibility criteria for the recruitment process. 

The OTET answer key along with the OMR Sheet containing the answers of the candidates will be released soon after the examination has been conducted.

The OTET Answer Key is released on the official website of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The candidates can download the answer key from the direct link on the home page only active after the examination. 

Yes, BSE accepts objections to the answer key. However, there will be a deadline for accepting objections after which no objections will be entertained.    

No, the OTET Exam is just one of the eligibility criteria in the recruitment process of the Odisha Teacher recruitment drive. The candidates will have to go through other stages of selection before finalization. 

Candidates who have attained the minimum passing marks for the OTET Exam are called for a personal interview to evaluate their soft skills in teaching. 

The OTET Counselling Process is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The candidates who clear the OTET selection process with the mentioned cutoff are called in for the OTET Counselling Process.
