PU MET 2023 Exam Latest Updates

The Panjab University conducted the exam on April 23, 2023, on its Chandigarh campus. Applicants were required to appear at the exam centres while carrying their admit cards. Candidates were also suggested to bring along their photo identity cards.

PU MET 2023 Exam Notification 

The Panjab University Management Entrance Exam 2023 Notifications were released before the exam. The notification included the date of release of the application form, the last date to apply, the date of admit card release, the exam date and a tentative date for releasing results in 2023.

PU MET Exam Pattern 2023

The Panjab University Management Entrance Exam is an offline exam conducted over a period of 2 hours. Other details of the exam are mentioned hereunder:

  1. The entrance exam is an MCQ-based test with four options to choose from. 
  2. The examination is designed in the English language. 
  3. Every correct answer scores 1 mark and every wrong answer secures a negative marking of 0.25.
  4. The examination is based on the following topics; General Knowledge, Economics & Business Environment Awareness, Data interpretation and problem-solving, Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability/ Reasoning, and English Comprehension.
  5. The PU MET admissions are based on a 3 step evaluation which includes a written test with 85% weightage, a group discussion with 7.5% weightage, and a Personal Interview with 7.5% weightage.

PU MET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria for admission to MBA are specific to the specialisation a student is looking for. Course-wise eligibility is given below. 

  1. For MBA in Retail Management and Banking & Insurance:
  • There is no age limit. 
  • Educational qualifications must include Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognised institution with 50% marks.
  • Or clearing the final exam conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England.
  • Or 50% marks in the AIME exam.
  • Or AIME Diploma completion with 60% marks and 5 years of experience as a professional, researcher or teacher. 
  1. For MBA in Infrastructure Management and Information Technology:
  • There is no age limit for the exam. 
  • Educational qualifications include Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution with 50% marks. 
  • Or Bachelor of Sciences in Physics or Mathematics from a reputable institution. 
  • Or Bachelor of Sciences in Computers from a reputable institution.
  • Or 50% marks in the AIME exam.
  • Or AIME Diploma completion with 60% marks and 5 years of experience as a professional, researcher or teacher. 
  1. For MBA in Pharmaceutical Management:
  • Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with 50% marks from a reputable institution. 
  • Or MBBS with 50% marks. 
  • Or Bachelor of Science with 50% marks. 
  1. For Hospital Management

Educational Qualifications must have one of the following from a reputable institution  MBBS/B.Sc Nursing, B. Pharmacy/ BAMS/BDS/BHMS/Bachelor of Physiotherapy with 50% marks. 

PU MET Application Process 2023

The application form for PU MET will soon be available, the candidates can follow the given steps to apply online:

  1. Visit the Panjab University official website: http://met.puchd.ac.in/. 
  2. Navigate to the admission section. 
  3. Register yourself as a new user by giving details.
  4. Log in using the details sent to you by email. 
  5. Fill in the details of the application form. 
  6. Pay the application fee as per the category in which you have applied. 
  7. Submit the application and take a printout of the document. 

PU MET Admit Card 2023

The PU MET Admit Card will be released a week before the entrance exam. The candidates can download the admit card online from the official website. How to Prepare for PU MET 2023?

The PU MET Exam preparation is different for candidates applying under different courses and preparation tips specific to each course are mentioned below. However, there are certain common preparation tips also mentioned. 

  1. The students must start preparing for the exam months before the exam date. 
  2. The candidates can divide their days into 4 quarters where they revise or study topics they are good at in 1 quarter and prepare the difficult or untouched topics in the other 3 quarters. This ratio can keep shifting based on the rate of the preparation. 
  3. The candidates must not forget to avail themselves of the mock test papers and the previous year’s question papers for preparation. 
  4. To prepare for the Numerical Ability Section the candidate shall first run through all important formulas and concepts and then practice as many problems as possible. The candidates must also focus on improving their calculation speed for this section. 
  5. To prepare for the Reasoning section candidates can get a book on reasoning that contains all sorts of problems and they should practice first using examples and then solving questions. 
  6. To prepare for verbal ability candidates need to prepare beforehand, improving verbal ability is a process that takes time. Learning 5-10 new words daily can help the candidate along with reading continuously from various genres of writing. 
  7. The PU MET preparation for General Knowledge involves making concise notes of all important people, events and things that are in the news recently. The candidates must also brush up their basic knowledge about their local history and culture, sports, economy, finance, environment etc.

PU MET Selection Process

Panjab University releases a list of candidates after the declaration of results to call candidates for the process of Group Discussion and Interviews. Only the candidates who made it to the cutoff marks in the written exam are called for further evaluation. 

The weightage of both Group Discussion and Personal Interview is 7.5% each and both are carried out on the same day. The combined score of the Written exam, Group discussion, and Personal Interview decide the fate of a candidate’s admission to the course. The results for each MBA Course under Panjab University Management Entrance Test (PU MET) are released separately.
