CAT Admission: Eligibility Criteria 2024
The eligibility criteria for getting into the prestigious IIMs for the CAT examination are
- The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% or equivalent. For the categories such as SC, ST, and PWD the percentage required is 45% from a recognized university.
- Candidates who are currently in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree can also apply for the examination. Additionally, candidates who are waiting for results can also apply if they complete degree requirements.
CAT Admission: Application Process 2024
Every year lots of candidates apply for the CAT exam on the official website. The students sometimes face difficulties filling out the application form. So, here is the step-by-step application process for the CAT exam.
Registration
The important step in the CAT exam application process is the registration to generate the user ID and password. You must have browsers with the following versions
- Google Chrome(version 85 to 103)
- Mozilla Firefox(version 85 to 102)
- Microsoft Edge(version 80 to 103)
After the user profile is created, enter the OTP received, Captcha, and submit the declaration.
Login Using Credentials
The candidate can log in to the website using the user ID and password received and can complete the CAT exam application using it.
Filling the Application Form
The application form is divided into six different sections which include Personal Details, Work Experience, Academics, Programs, Test City, and Payments. If a candidate has any other professional degree they can add it and save it also.
Select the Required Program
You can choose the program that you wish to pursue in the future from the various options available.
Choose the Examination Centre
A candidate can choose a total of six cities according to their preferences from the drop-down box. The six preferred examination centres will be assigned after the deadline for registration and pending availability.
Complete the Payments
Candidates can pay the transactional fees from the available payment options after reading the instructions given on the website.
Applications Fees CAT Admission 2024
The application Fees vary each year as per the modifications. The candidate applying for the CAT exam must pay a certain application fee that is mentioned below:-

CAT Admission: Selection Process 2024
IIMs select the candidates if they clear the final interview along with other stages of the selection. The stages of the selection procedure are as follows:-
- CAT Exam 2024 – After the announcement of the CAT Exam 2024 result IIMs start the shortlisting process for the candidates. The shortlisted candidates list can be seen on the website of the conducting body to which the IIM sends the interview letters.
- WAT, PI, and Group Discussion – The candidate who clears the cut-off will advance to the next stage of the selection process WAT, Personal Interview, and Group Discussion. In this round, candidates are evaluated based on communication ability, General knowledge, performance, and presence of mind.
- Final Selection and Verification of Eligibility – The candidates are finally selected by verifying the eligibility and marks obtained at various stages.
