The full form of GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is one of the most popular engineering exams in India. It is a national-level examination for Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Technology (MTech), and direct Ph.D. admissions to the prestigious IITs in India.

What is GATE?
GATE is an engineering entrance examination in India that is conducted by IIT Kharagpur once a year. It is an online computer-based test consisting of a total of 27 subjects from which students can choose one that suits their academic background. The exam is three hours long. GATE Scorecard is valid for up to three years.

GATE Eligibility Criteria
- Must have completed higher secondary education
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Technology
- Must have a Master’s degree in any branch of science /mathematics/ computer application/ statistics or their equivalent
Please note: According to the New relaxation in terms of minimum eligibility, students who are a part of 10+2+3 ongoing courses can also apply for GATE in their 3rd year.
