• The Poona Pact provided for reserved seats for the Depressed Classes in the provincial legislatures.
• It also ensured separate electorates for the Dalits but within the reserved seats rather than in general constituencies. 
• Number of reserved seats for the Dalit community was increased from 71 to 148 in the provincial legislatures.
