This project aims to provide unprecedented insights regarding the Sun’s behaviour by establishing itself in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, approximately 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.
The most exciting aspect of Aditya-L1’s mission is its ability to directly view the Sun from its unique vantage point at L1.

In 2019, Govt. of India sanctioned about rupees 378.53 cr. without launch cost for the Aditya L-1 budget. Although ISRO has not passed any official statement regarding the exact figure for this.
