About Ola Electric
Established in 2017, Ola Electric is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ANI Technologies. The parent company of Ola Electric is Ola Cabs. Ola Electric manufactures electric two-wheeler and is based out of Bengaluru. The manufacturing plant of Ola Electric is situated in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, India. The primary purpose behind starting Ola Electric was to reduce emissions and reduce dependency on fuels. For this purpose, charging stations were set up across Nagpur, and electric cabs, e-buses, and e-rickshaws were procured from OEM partners in 2018.
In 2019, Ola Electric raised around $56 million from Tiger Global and also the company reported that Ratan Tata invested in the company, in series A funding. In July of the same year, Ola Electric raised $250 million in series B funding taking the complete valuation of the company at USD 1 billion.
