History, Affiliations and Rankings

The university’s history dates back to 1595 and is based on partnerships and cooperation. UWE Bristol has maintained this legacy over the years in order to grow and transform in order to meet the needs of today's students and higher education teaching. The Bristol School of Practical Art was founded in 1853, and when Edward VII handed it its royal charter, it became part of the Royal West of England Academy. The university is affiliated with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, European University Association (EUA), Association of MBAs (AMBA), Universities UK, Association of Commonwealth Universities and University Alliance. UWE Bristol is ranked #801-1000 in QS Global World Rankings 2022. The Times Higher Education positioned it at #401-500 in the World University Ranking 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Each of the three campuses of the university, which are only a short bus ride apart, offers something different. They've invested £300 million in their cutting-edge facilities over the previous five years. Creating the most effective and empowering environment in which the students and people can realize their full potential. The city center is a 15-minute bus trip from the main campus. The Students Union, a 24-hour library, sports facilities, shops, and a variety of cafes, pubs, and restaurants can all be found here. Three miles northeast of the city center is Glenside Campus. It's a beautiful and well-equipped place to study, and it's where many of the allied health, nursing, and midwifery students call home. It offers many undergraduate and graduate degrees in various disciplines.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

In the Guardian League Table 2022, the university is placed 36th out of 121 UK institutions. After six months, 79 percent of UWE Bristol graduates were employed in professional or managerial positions. The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey shows the value of a UWE Bristol degree in kick-starting a career. The study at UWE Bristol is regarded as world-leading or internationally good in 79 percent of cases. According to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, the university research has resulted in tangible benefits to the economy and society, as well as increased academic understanding. UWE Bristol graduates are doing outstanding work and inspiring people all across the world, with over 310,000 alumni globally.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

UWE Bristol is one of the largest providers of higher education in the South West, with over 30,000 students and 3,800 employees. With strong employer and partner connections, they are internationally connected and regionally embedded. The university has a total of 5,282 international students enrolled. Female students make up roughly 49% of the student body. Students from over 100 different nationalities, backgrounds, and ethnicities make up the community. Some top recruiters of the graduates are Deloitte, HSBC, EY and Dyson.
