The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) is a private university in Indianapolis, Indiana, that is associated with the United Methodist Church. It grants degrees at the Associate, Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels. It was founded in 1902 as Indiana Central University and was widely known as Indiana Central College from 1921 to 1975. The University of Indianapolis took over as the official name in 1986. Academically affiliated with the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the International Association of Methodist-related Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU). UIndy is also one of the NCAA Division II – GLVC in the USA. It is listed at #239 in National Universities ranking by US News and World Report. In the US Colleges Rankings 2022, Times Higher Education places the university between 501 and 600.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The University of Indianapolis' campus, which is run from a single location at 1400 East Hanna Avenue, is considered to be one of the top campuses in the country by Niche.The University of Indianapolis campus has on-campus housing options, appealing classrooms, halls, a computer lab, the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, the Krannert Memorial Library, the Lilly Science Hall, restaurants, and sporting and entertainment facilities. With an average class size of 17 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1, the campus's classroom sizes are small. The university operates a number of clubs and organisations that are in charge of organising various activities for the students' growth, including dance, rugby, and science like Show Choir, Janus Club etc. Over 140 different courses are offered at the University of Indianapolis, with over 100 of those being undergraduate courses. The university also provides 40+ master's degree programmes and 5 doctorate degrees.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Graduate programmes at the Krannert School of Physical Therapy, School of Occupational Therapy, and School of Nursing, all of which are nationally recognized. University is in NCAA Division II that offers 23 team sports. In 2020, the University of Indianapolis won the prestigious Carnegie Community Engagement Classification. One of the best universities in the USA, it is also classified among the Best Value Schools that offer high-quality education at affordable prices and high returns on investment. Over 30,000 UIndy graduates are part of a global alumni network. Some of the notable alumni are, Katie R. Stam Irk (Miss America 2009), Stephane Fortin (former Canadian Football League player), John Ackerson (Former member of both the houses of the Kentucky State Legislature) and Megan Meadors (Miss Indiana 2008).

On its main campus, the University of Indianapolis now has over 600 faculty members instructing 5,600 students, about 1400 of whom are enrolled in master's programmes. The University of Indianapolis is also renowned for hosting a diverse student body, with representatives from over 55 different nations, and 33 percent of all enrolled candidates coming from outside the country. At the University of Indianapolis, 64% of students are female and 36% are male. UIndy has a 13:1 student to teacher ratio, and over half of its classes have less than 20 students.
