Established in 1960, the University of California San Diego is a public land-grant university situated in the La Jolla district of northern San Diego, California, between the communities of La Jolla Shores, Torrey Pines, and University City. The university has sporting affiliations with NCAA Division I - Big West, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, and Western Water Polo Association. According to the 2018 edition of the QS World University Rankings, the University of California, San Diego (also known as UC San Diego) is one of the top 20 universities in the United States.
