The University of Birmingham was formed 194 years ago and received its Royal Charter in 1900. This university is among the UK's leading universities, and the credit for its fame goes to the discoveries done by the researchers of the institution. The university's first Chancellor, Joseph Chamberlain, had a daring vision for the University. Birmingham represented a new model for Higher Education. It was England's first municipal university, accepting students from all walks of life on an equal footing in Birmingham. The University of Birmingham is affiliated with organisations like Universitas 21, Universities UK, European University Association, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Sutton 13 and Russell Group. Aside from that, many of the university's courses have internationally recognised accreditations, such as the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). University of Birmingham ranks #90th in the QS Global World Ranking 2022. Thus, maintaining its position in the top 100 universities globally and #14th in the UK. These rankings are based on six factors, namely, academic reputation, student-faculty ratio, employer reputation, citation per faculty, international faculty, international student. The university occupies the #105th position in the Times Higher Education Rankings

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses 

Geographically, the university is located in Edgbaston, a place that has ranked among the top places in the UK. More than 100 years on, its Birmingham campus has grown to 672 acres, and it also now has a campus in Dubai. The city is known for its stunning architecture and modern lifestyle. Accomplishments & Alumni 

Since its inception, the university has been able to research cavity magnetron, diffusion, the structure of lactose and glycogen, and carbohydrates chemistry. Moreover, it has also created a scheme named Birmingham Heroes, where the emphasis is on various observations like efficient energy cooling, particles of pollutants, intestine disease, treatment of cancer, life sciences, and mental health issues. Also, two University of Birmingham Professors have been elected Fellows of the British Academy, in recognition of their contribution to the Humanities and Social Sciences. Having said that, the university also provides merit-based scholarships recognising the talents of its international students. Also, almost 90% of its research was judged to have delivered ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’ external impact (Research Excellence Framework 2014). This university has a list of notable alumni who have gained immense recognition in their respective fields.
