Q: I’d like to defer admission. How do I do that?

Please email application.status@ua.edu and scholarships@ua.edu (if applicable) with your name, CWID, the semester you wish to start, and a brief explanation of why you wish to defer.

Q: When will I know which scholarships I have received?

Students will receive a Consolidated Scholarship Letter in mid-March that outlines their scholarship award package for the coming year and will have until May 1 to accept.

Q: Am I eligible for merit scholarships without a test score?

Students who are admitted without test scores can be eligible for merit awards. Later this summer, we will provide detailed guidance on scholarships.

Q: How do I apply for student accommodation/housing?

Once a student is admitted, they need to pay their Freshmen Enrollment Deposit ($200 non-refundable pre-payment on fall tuition) before applying for housing. Your housing application will be available for completion 24 hours after submission of your Freshman Enrollment Deposit.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a public exploration university in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The university was developed from a Birmingham extension centre set up in 1936 and became a four-year institution in 1966 and a completely independent university within the University of Alabama System in 1969. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is authorized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission for all its courses and degrees. UAB is also granted an official report that they finished the reaffirmation procedure in 2015. Their coming reaffirmation will be in 2025. In the 2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings, the University of Alabama at Birmingham was tied for the 148th best national university and was ranked tied for the 67th best public university. As per the QS World University Rankings 2022 and THE World University Rankings 2022, the University of Alabama is placed between #801-1000 and #601-800 respectively.
