History, Affiliations and Rankings

The University of Tampere was founded in 1925 as the Civic College in Helsinki teaching public administration, organisation management and journalism. The institution was renamed the University of Tampere in 1966. It has been affiliated with the European Consortium of Innovative Universities, UArtic, European Universities Association, European Society for Engineering Education, SGroup, and UNIMED. QS world rankings have given it a world ranking of 414. Times Higher education has given it a global ranking in the range of 251-300. US News and World Report have given it a global ranking of 354.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University has a central modern campus in Kalevanharju. Tampere University has a total of seven faculties, namely the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences, Faculty of Management and Business, Faculty of Education and Culture, Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology, Faculty of Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Faculty of Social Sciences. The University also has a Language Centre, a Library, a Teacher Learning School, and the Tampere University Hospital.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

Since its establishment, Tampere University has had a long road of History and accomplishments. Tampere University is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. The University faculty annually produce approximately 3,600 scientific publications. Of them, 32% represent the top or leading level and 68% the basic level. Many notable alumni like Jyrki Katainen (Prime Minister of Finland), Sanna Marin (Prime Minister of Finland), and Mika Lintilä (Minister of Finance of Finland) have graduated through the Tampere University

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Tampere University welcomes more than 1000 international exchange students every year. The university has an extensive international program with more than 550 bilateral agreements with other universities for student as well as faculty exchange. This gives a chance to all the students to have greater exposure in their college life. Tampere University also offers career services to all the students and organises multiple career fairs for the students to meet employers and gain some real experience before graduating.
