History, Affiliations and Rankings

Following WWII, the need for qualified tradespeople prompted the establishment of the Ryerson Institute of Technology in 1948 in Canada. Around 250 students enrolled in Ryerson University's first year, which was built on the historic site of Ontario's first teacher training college known as the Toronto Normal School. The new school provided theoretical and practical training in a variety of skilled trades, including architecture, costume design, and photography. The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers has certified the baccalaureate degree programmes in Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering. The university ranks between #801-1000 in the latest QS World University Rankings 2022 and THE World University Rankings 2022. Furthermore, the university also ranks #933 in U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022.  

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Ryerson University is located in the centre of Toronto, the largest city in Canada. The city, a vibrant hub of business, industry, and culture, is welcoming and accessible, and its residents, like Ryerson's students, come from all over the world. From the award-winning Student Learning Centre to the upcoming multi-functional Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex, the university is dedicated to building a better campus, and city, one building at a time. The Ryerson Image Centre (RIC) on the main campus of the University is a research, teaching, and exhibiting facility dedicated to photography and associated media. The Campus appears to be a never-ending work of art. The university offers 60 undergraduate programs including foundation programs and over 40 graduate programmes

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The university’s academics and researchers are extremely proud of their intellectual, research, and creative accomplishments. #2nd in Canada and among the Top 100 globally for Hospitality Tourism Management as per the 2021 Shanghai Rankings. Researchers at the Ted Rogers School of Management come from a variety of fields, bringing a wide range of research views and unique solutions to managerial and social issues. Ryerson has a nearly 170,000 network of alumni all around the world. Some of the notable alumni are Nina Dobrev, Canadian Actress, Eric McCormack, Canadian-American Actor and Gail Kim, Canadian Professional Wrestler.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Ryerson University has a vibrant campus community made up of over 200 student clubs and organisations. Clubs reflect diverse sports and fitness interests and offer you the chance to gain skills and for some, actively compete for the university. Ryerson offers facilities for both recreational as well as competitive clubs. The university has over 45,000 students enrolled themselves. There are 900 affiliated and adjunct graduate faculty.
