Situated in the wonderful neighborhood of Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada, Northern Lakes College was established in 1995. Though the college was established in 1999 but the history of the college can be traced back to 1970s when the need for vocational education was voiced up by the students of Alberta Vocational Center and community Vocational center from Grouard education center. In 1999, Northern Lakes College was established on the foundation of Alberta Vocational College. Today, Northern Lakes College has number of faculties and departments in Academic Upgrading, Health Careers, Trade and Resources Technology, Business Administration Studies, University studies and Continuing Education Training. It offers certificate courses, diploma programs, distant learning programs, pre-university training programs in Business Administration, Power Engineering, Practical Nurse, Community Liaison, Forestry, Health Care, Office Administration, Paramedicine, Petroleum, Production Field Operations, Rehabilitation Therapy, Social Work and Teaching. Not just this, Northern Lakes College is a home to multiple research centers and institutes which encourage students to take part or conduct a research study in their interested area of study under guidance. Today, the main campus of Northern Lakes College is located in Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada which is approx. . Apart from this, it has 25 more community campuses in Athabasca, Atikameg, Cadotte Lake, Chateh, Driftpile, Fort Vermilion, Gift Lake, Grouard, High Level, High Prairie, Peace River, Peavine, Peerless Lake, Smoky River, Stony Point, Valleyview and many other locations. There are 1,800 part time and full-time students and 4,000 noncredit students enrolled in the college and 300 academic staff members.
