History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1823, Liverpool John Moores University is a public research institution. Previously, the institution was known as Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts. The institution was later changed to Liverpool Polytechnic. In 1992, the institution was awarded university status to become Liverpool John Moores University. The Liverpool John Moores University has affiliations with University Alliance, European University Association (EUA), North West Universities Association (NWUA), and Northern Consortium. The Liverpool John Moores University ranks #401–500th in World University Rankings 2022 by Times Higher Education and #801-1000 by the QS Top Universities 2021.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Liverpool John Moores University has three main campuses with 44 buildings. The University is situated in the historic downtown of Liverpool, the institution has been designed and built with colorful and contemporary campuses for both residence living and education. The university is mainly composed of three lush campuses which are discussed as follows: The Mount Pleasant Campus has two disciplines: Business and Law and Arts, Professional and Social Studies. The City Campus has three disciplines: Health, Science, Engineering, and Technology. The IM Marsh Campus is situated in Aigburth and is about four miles from the city center. Over the past ten years, the university has spent about 160 million GBP on the design of new lecture theaters, classrooms, cafes, and award-winning buildings. Every campus has libraries, theater halls, science parks, athletics buildings, cafes, and restaurants. Almost all types of clubs, societies, and sports groups exist to get involved in and challenge an individual. The university provides full-time, part-time, and distance learning programs in 27 subjects at undergraduate and graduate levels. Apprenticeships are also offered to eligible students. 212 bachelor's degree courses and more than 120 graduate degrees are provided to the students across science, engineering, and business.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Liverpool John Moores is a pioneer of multimedia education and has one of the UK’s most state-of-the-art media centers. Various lectures are offered by computer, maximizing students’ one-to-one tutorial time with their lecturers. The notable alumni of the institute are Rachel Brown (England women's national football team Goalkeeper), Stephen Crowe (composer), and Bambos Charalambous (MP).

Liverpool John Moores University values diversity in all its dimensions. The College has more than 25,000 student enrolments out of which about 20,100 are undergraduates and about 4,900 are postgraduates with about 1,100 faculty members on its premises. They have about 1,250 students hailing from all over the world on the campus. The male to female ratio is 47:53 at Liverpool John Moores University making it a fairly gender-balanced university.
