History, Affiliations & Rankings 

Since its founding in 1827, (Kungliga Tekniska Hogskolan) KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has become one of Europe's leading technical and engineering universities and a key centre for intellectual talent and innovation. They are Sweden's largest research and education institution, home to students, researchers and teachers from around the world who strive to deepen their knowledge. In the 1980s, the predecessor of the present School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (KTH) housed some of its branches on its Kist campus in Stockholm. Since 2002, the current School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Healthcare (at KTH) has been running part of its activities in Flemingsberg, Stockholm. KTH is the top-ranked university in Sweden. It is ranked #89 in the world as per QS World Rankings 2022.

Infrastructure, Campuses & Courses

The KTH campus is the main KTH campus located in the Ostermalm district. KTH Södertälje is the southernmost and smallest KTH campus located in Södertälje. KTH offers undergraduate and graduate courses on campus with a primary focus on mechanical engineering, logistics, manufacturing, and product development. In addition to the undergraduate and doctoral programs, KTH offers approximately 60 international master's programs taught in English in subjects ranging from natural sciences to all areas of engineering, architecture, industrial management, and town planning. The university continues to focus on research and education for a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow. We will continually evaluate the impact of our efforts on society and contribute through the intellectual resources of our students and researchers to creating new approaches to some of the most important challenges of our time. In collaboration, three universities offer an integrated university environment for research and education.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

KTH alumni are truly global and can be found all over the world. KTH alumni are also an active liaison between KTH students, KTH alumni and industry. KTH Alumni Office supports all KTH Alumni living abroad and ensures their relationship with their old university. We help strengthen international groups and networks by organizing events and providing digital networking platforms. The primary goal is to build and maintain good relationships with university graduates and help current students start their careers. Some well-known alumni include Christer Fuglesang  (Swedish Physicist), Sweden, Daniel Ek (CEO of Spotify), Sweden and Dolph Lundgren (Swedish Actor). 

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

KTH Royal Institute of Technology has a student body of 13,500+ students, including 1657 active research students. Diversity is the cornerstone of the institution, and is ingrained in the composition of the University's student population, in gender and in ethnicity. 35% of the university's student body comprises women, while 21% of the students attend the University from outside Sweden. Some of the prominent and well-known companies with which the KTH Royal Institute of Technology collaborates include Databricks, Brimore,, Hawker's co and Custex.
