Established in 1975, the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is a public university in New Zealand, with campuses located in Hawke's Bay, Auckland, and Gisborne. The University is serving as the main educational center in the region. The institute has established networks with multiple sectors across New Zealand. It is one of the top institutes of polytechnics and technology in New Zealand for research excellence. This further assures the institute’s secure funding through the performance-based research fund of the Government.

Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) has a total of three campuses located in Hawke's Bay. Tairawhiti and Auckland. Hawke's Bay is known as one of the country's most famous campuses due to its shaded outdoor regions and mesmerizing architecture. EIT Tairawhiti is situated right in the middle of Gisborne close to the Taruheru and the location of the institute on Queen Street makes it one of the most ideal destinations for higher education in NZ.
