Established in 1993, Capella University is an online university in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA . Started as the Graduate School of America by Dr. Harold Abel and Stephen Shank in 1993, CU was established with an aim to provide the education in the relevant fields keeping the changing discourse in mind. Stephen Shank became the first president of the Graduate School of America and the parent company. In 1999, after gaining few recognitions and accreditations, the name of the parent company and institute were changed to Capella Education Company and Capella University. Today CU offers wide range of online programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctoral levels in in Business, Counseling, Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, IT, Psychology, Public Service, Social Work and Human Services and Counselling and Therapy. It offers 52-degree programs with over 1900 online courses. Not just this, it also offers many certification and online foundation programs in different academic disciplines. It follows four learning formats: FlexPath Learning Format, GuidedPath Learning Format, Path Finder Quiz and Trial Course. Each of these learning formats are designed for students to understand the programs and concepts thoroughly. Today, the headquarter of CU is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. There are total 38,000 students enrolled from 61 nationalities with more than 1,350 academic staff members available online at any time to solve the queries posted by students. CU allows students to earn a limited number of credits through a prior learning assessment program, which can provide college credit for past experiences.
