History, Affiliations and Rankings
Canisius College is a private Jesuitical institute located in Buffalo, New York. The College was established in 1870 by Jesuits from Germany and has been named after St. Peter Canisius. The College has an academic affiliation with ACCU, AJCU, NAICU and athletic affiliation with NCAA Division I - MAAC AH. The Canisius College ranks #362nd in US College Rankings 2022 by the Times Higher Education and #21 in Regional Universities North by the US News & World Report.

Canisius College has 16 education and management buildings, three sports facilities, and 11 residence halls. The College possesses top-class architecture, a prosperous theatre district, mesmerizing parks, art galleries, and museums all just within walking distance. Close to Delaware Park, Elmwood Village, and historic Allentown or Buffalo's beautiful and renovated downtown waterfront, Canisius provides great places to be relaxed. The notable alumni of the institute are John Rowe (Class of 1966), former chairman and CEO of Aetna, Dennis F. Strigl (Class of 1974), President and CEO of Verizon Wireless and Mary Wittenberg, (Class of 1984), President and CEO of the New York Road Runners.

Canisius College values diversity in all its dimensions. The College has more than 2,600 student enrolments out of which about 1,800 are undergraduates and about 700 are postgraduates with more than 360 faculty members on its premises. Out of all the student enrollments, there are more than 700 international students on the campus.
