Abu Dhabi University is Dubai's largest private university established in 2003 after the development of the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in 2000 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The world-class institution is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In addition, its College of Business is accredited by both AACSB and EQUIS, a double accreditation which is held by only 1% of business schools in the world. The QS World University Rankings 2021 ranked ADU among the top 750 universities worldwide and the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years old. Also, the university has ranked 3 rd in the international faculty category and 11th for student body diversity.

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses

ADU have its flagship campus in Abu Dhabi with additional campuses in Al Ain, Dubai, and Al Dhafra. Abu Dhabi campus is a purpose-built, 3,68,000 sqm campus comprising a world-class learning environment, state-of-the-art educational technology, laboratories, food outlets & coffee shops, male & female dormitories, sporting facilities, and more.  ADU’s brand new Dubai campus is an 8,000 sqm facility located in the Dubai Knowledge Park is the only free zone for learning excellence in the world. ADU has five colleges dedicated to Business, Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Law, and Health Sciences, the university offers over 50 internationally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The ADU community consists of more than 19,925 graduates who have made their mark not only in the UAE but all around the world, across diverse areas of study.  ADU prides itself on its long history of academic excellence. ADU’s sports teams are also widely popular for their achievements such as its cricket team having claimed second place, and its female football team has won the Abu Dhabi inter-university sports league championship in 2018 and 2019. Many alumni got placed in reputed companies. 

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

In the 2020-21 academic year, international students at ADU represented 43% of the total enrolments. The university boasts welcoming around 7,800 students from more than 80 countries every year. According to the Global Employability Ranking and Survey 2020 (GEURS), ADU has been ranked best for employability in the UAE and third in the Arab world. The university has a dedicated Employability and Alumni Relations Office (EARO) to guide students and graduates through their employment and help them network with major recruiters and industry professionals in their respective fields. In 2019-20, the university conducted around 60 career development sessions for more than 1,000 students and alumni.

Quacquarelli Symonds (Q.S.) is a corporation based in the United Kingdom that specialises in the analysis of higher education institutions worldwide. Nunzio Quacquarelli launched the company in 1990. It publishes the Q.S. World University Rankings every year. The Q.S. rating, which is considered one of the three most widely read university rankings globally, is approved by the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG). The institution uses six metrics, namely Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per faculty, International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio, that effectively capture university performance. It also publishes rankings in Young universities, Graduate Employability, and Subject Rankings. Q.S. provides an auditing service to universities, which offers information on the institution's strengths and shortcomings. The Q.S. Stars audit procedure rates universities based on over 50 different indicators.

The Times Higher Education, originally The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES), is a British magazine that focuses on higher education news and topics. It annually publishes The Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It has received worldwide acclaim for its new and improved rating algorithm. Since 2004, it has provided students and their families, academics, university executives, governments, and businesses with reliable university performance data. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research); and Industry income (knowledge transfer). It also produces subject rankings and rankings for Young Universities, Impact, Reputation, And Emerging Economies.

The Guardian is a British daily newspaper that first appeared in 1821 as The Manchester Guardian and was renamed The Guardian in 1959. The Guardian University Guide is published once a year. The goal of the University Guide is to show how each university's department is likely to provide an overall beneficial experience to future students, and to do so; they look at how previous students in the department fared. A league table was created using nine performance criteria for 54 disciplines spanning all stages of the student life cycle. Entry standards, Student-staff ratios, Expenditure per student, Continuation, Student satisfaction, Value Added, Standardisation, Subject Classification, and Career Prospects are the indicators utilised by the organisation.

It began in 1948 as a merger of the weekly newspaper U.S. News and the worldwide weekly magazine World Report. The company's rankings of Best Global universities are well-known among the wider population and significantly impact admission trends. The inaugural "America's Best Colleges" report was released by the U.S. News & World Report in 1983. Since 1985, the rankings have been produced and published annually. The magazine U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on data collected from educational institutions through an annual survey, government and third-party data sources, and school websites. It also takes into account outside opinion polls of university faculty and administrators.
