Study in UK: UCL Demonstrates a Commitment to India by Launching 100 New Master’s Scholarships & Summer School for Indian Students

The University College London (UCL) has announced the launch of a new scholarship scheme for Indian students. The UCL Indian Excellence Scholarships aim to support Indian students with outstanding academic records in pursuing Masters in the UK. Aside from the announcement of the New scholarship scheme, the university has also announced the launch of a summer school for the 1st time in India. The summer school is a result of a joint collaboration between British School Indian and the UCL. 

UCL made the announcements at an event held at the British High Commission Residence on November 20, 2023. According to Deputy High Commissioner Christina Scott, India’s brightest young people recognize the value of studying at UCL. The relationships the students will build will deepen the ties between India and the UK to everyone’s benefit.

UCL India Excellence Scholarships

The UCL India Excellence scholarship is available to all postgraduate students from India. The scholarship benefit is a bursary of  £5,000 for the duration of 1 year. A total of 33 scholarships are available for the academic year 2024-25. However, applicants must have completed Bachelors in a relevant field and must meet the GPA requirements of the university.

Exceptional students who can attain a 1st class degree will receive the scholarships.
Over the next 2 years, the university will award the remaining 67 scholarships. The UCL India Excellence Scholarship requires no application. However, the applicant must apply for admission to the UCL postgraduate program by Thursday 29 February 2024.

UCL India Summer School 

UCL has also revealed plans to launch the 1st ever summer school in India. The school will be based at the British School, New Delhi. The aim of the summer school is to provide pre-university Indian students an opportunity to experience life at a UK university. 

The UCL India summer school inaugural will take place from 10-14 June 2024.: Five prominent professors from University College London (UCL) will be leading the sessions for 50 students who are in years 10 and 11. Dr Michael Collins, a history associate professor at UCL London is organising the academic program. At the summer school, students will learn about the university’s approach to research, teaching, and employability. 

UCL ranks 9th in the world (QS World Ranking 2024). The university has a total of 30 Nobel laureates and a community of 50,000 students from 150 countries. Hence, it is an excellent university to study abroad.
