In the Green University Report 2023, Coventry University is leading as a Gold Tier University. It has been declared a leader in sustainability. This is due to the installation of solar panels, solar thermal, and a ground source heat pump on campus.
Awed? Here’s more, the university has 14 electric vehicles, which include 13 vans and a car forming its fleet. Furthermore, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer of Coventry University, Ian Marshall stated that they will focus on making Coventry a Net Carbon Zero institution till 2030.
With all its campuses in city centres of various cities, this title is a hard-earned win for the university. There are various sustainability workshops for students and staff to spread awareness of eco-friendly initiatives on campus. Moreover, the university also received the prestigious Bees’ Needs Champions Award earlier this year.
The award was for promoting and inculcating biodiversity on campus. The university has initiatives such as bug hotels as well as bird, and bat boxes which led to the award.
