Good news for Indian students! The Ministry of Education (MoE) Taiwan is offering more scholarships and increasing collaboration with Indian universities to make studying in Taiwan easier and more attractive.

More Scholarships and Easier Funding

  • The MoE Taiwan created nine extra spots for Indian students, bringing the total number of scholarships awarded this year to 129.
  • The scholarship application period is from February to August every year.
  • The MoE offers two main scholarships:
    • Taiwan Scholarship for degree-seeking students
    • Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for Mandarin language learning (3, 6, 9, or 12 months)
  • This year, the MoE awarded over Rs 17 crore in scholarships to Indian students, the highest amount ever offered.

Collaboration with Indian Universities

  • The MoE signed MoUs with Indian universities to set up Taiwan Education Centers on their campuses.
  • These centers offer Mandarin language courses taught by Taiwanese teachers.
  • Students who learn Mandarin and pass a certain level of the TOCFL (The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) can apply for scholarships to study in Taiwan.
  • The centers offer 12-hour weekly Mandarin classes and study materials to help students succeed.
  • Teachers also help students prepare for the TOCFL by conducting mock exams.

  • Taiwanese universities are highly ranked for graduate employability.
