Study Abroad: 10 IIT Kharagpur Students Awarded $45,000 for Research Internships at Foreign Universities
The scholarship recipients can pursue research at premier institutions in the UK, US, Belgium, Canada, and Germany.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur students have received scholarships to pursue research internships at foreign universities. The scholarship has been provided by an IIT Kharagpur Alumnus Dr  Mukund Padmanabhan, a hedge fund researcher.

An amount of $45,000 (INR 36.85 lakh) is offered to ten Indian students to pursue their research.  Moreover, the scholarship beneficiaries can pursue their research in the premier institutions in the UK, US, Belgium, Germany, and Canada

According to IIT Kharagpur Director, Virendra Kumar Tewari, the scholarship has opened several opportunities for meritorious students. Additionally, it will provide the students with practical ideas about research development, and implementation in terms of global industry expertise. 

IIT Kharagpur Summer Research Internship Benefactor 

According to Dr. Padmanabhan, the scholarships will add value to the IIT Kharagpur academia. Additionally, the scholarships will assist in the holistic development of the students.

Dr Padmanbhan is the one who is offering scholarships to the IIT Kharagpur Students. He has previously worked with the IBM T J Watson Research Lab and is an alumni of IIT. 

The scholarships are provided through his US based charitable organization, Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF) in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur Foundation (US). 

IIT Kharagpur Summer Research Internship Beneficiaries 

The KGP selection committee has selected 10 students for a total scholarship award of $45,000.  Manav Nitin Kapadnis, Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the beneficiaries. 

According to him, he got the opportunity to work on improving ChatGPT during his internship at Inria Paris. Being a student interested in artificial intelligence and natural language processing the scholarship was beneficial for him.
