3 Simple Steps for a Smooth STEP Exam Registration Process

As mentioned before, you cannot register for the STEP examination by yourself. The exam registration has to be done by the school or university. However, you must be aware of the registration process. The STEP registration process is provided in five simple steps below:

 Identify a Test Centre

The first step to register for STEP is to identify a test centre. Ideally, your school or college must be your test centre. They must register on your behalf. If your school or college is not already registered as a centre, first, they must register as a STEP examination centre. The registration process is simple. The Oxford, Cambridge and RSA (OCR) website contains detailed instructions regarding registration for a test centre.

  1. STEP Exam Registration Centre (Verified) – Alternative Option

If your school or college cannot be your test centre, then you need to find the nearest open test centre near you. Ensure that this test centre is authorised to run STEP. A verified STEP examination registration centre is the British Council in India. This is an authorised test centre that provides the STEP registration services to Indian nationals. The British Council manages the exams at their designated centres. The examination test centres are located in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Provide Details for the Registration Process

To start the STEP registration process, you need to provide the test centre with the required information. The following information has to be provided:

  1. Your name, gender, and UCAS number (as it is in the UCAS application). You also have to provide your date of birth.
  2. Provide the name of your university and course codes.
  3. Details of any access arrangements you require (along with proof of the same)

After the registration process is complete, you will get your Candidate entry number as proof of your registration. Ensure that you are paying the fees for the examination. Take a printout of the completed registration form and the fee payment form.

2.  STEP Registration Process for British Council Test Centres (Alternative)

The STEP Registration process for those choosing the British Council as their test centre is different. The registration process is provided below.

  1. Complete the STEP registration form available on the British Council website.
  2. Ensure that you are including your UCAS ID (if available), and test centre number.
  3. Pay the examination fee via NEFT or any other form of payment.
  4. Fill out the MS Form link provided on their website
  5. Provide the UTR number to fill out the link, and ensure that payment is made prior to filling out the MS Form.
  6. Keep one scanned copy of the duly completed registration form and one NEFT screenshot.

After the fee payment is done, your registration is complete. Take a printout of the registration form and a screenshot of the fee payment. You might need this to enter the exam hall. Besides this, keep your Identification card with you (For example, government identification card, or passport) for verification purposes. Ensure that you show up at the test centre at least an hour before the exam starts. Read the test guidelines carefully and ensure that you follow through. STEP examination does not permit calculators or any other electronic devices. Therefore, do not bring the same to the examination centre.

Can I Reschedule the Sixth Term Examination Paper?

The results for the paper are also released on the same date as the A-level results.
