Understanding GAMSAT Dates for 2025
The GAMSAT is conducted mainly in Australia, the UK, and Ireland. The exam dates are the same, but the time varies depending on the country. Moreover, the universities in Australia consider the GAMSAT dates for March and September. However, if you are seeking admission in the UK or Ireland, you must only consider the September dates (even if other dates are available). This is because universities in the UK or Ireland use the September sitting for applications.
GAMSAT Dates 2025 Australia
The Graduate Medical School Admissions Test is conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The exam is mainly for students who want admission to an Australian university. For example, the Australian National University, Flinders University, Griffith University, Macquarie University, Deakin University, and the University of Queensland. The dates are as follows:

The UK has two time zones throughout the year. They follow the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) during the winter. On the other hand, the BST (British Summer Time) is followed during the summer. The GAMSAT dates for the next year have not yet been released. This is because the exam is ongoing. Nevertheless, we have provided the estimated dates for the next year. The timing usually changes. How to Register for the GAMSAT?
As per the GAMSAT dates, for 2025, the registration process is closed. If you are interested in registering for the exam next year, you can check out the registration process. The registration process remains the same irrespective of the country you are taking the test. The exam registration steps are as follows:
- Set up an ACER online account by visiting the ACER GAMSAT website.
- Register for the test in March/September when the registration window opens
- Choose the test dates and exam centre
- Pay the fees for the test, and submit your application form
- Receive the confirmation email and a payment confirmation receipt
- Download your admit card (available 3-4 days before the test date) and appear for the exam.
When should GAMSAT be Taken?
Those wanting admission to Australian Universities can take the test in Australia after checking the GAMSAT Dates. Similarly, those wanting admission in a UK or an Irish university can take the test in the UK or Ireland.
Ideal Month and Test Validity
The GAMSAT exam has different sittings. You can sit for the March or September cycle if you are an Australian student. UK and Ireland applicants can take the test during the September cycle to be aligned with the admission process. The exam results are valid for 4 years in Australia and only 2 years in Ireland and the UK.
Consider Your Level of Education
If you are a second-year or a final-year undergraduate student, you can choose to take the test early. GAMSAT can be taken as many times as you want. Therefore, even if you don’t score well, you can retake the test the next year. This will prevent any education gap.
On the other hand, those who have already graduated and have time (gap) can dedicate time to preparing for the exam. Ensure that you book the test before the deadline. Prepare a solid study plan, understand the GAMSAT dates, learn the core subjects, practise section by section, take several mock tests, and sit for the exam.

How Much Does GAMSAT cost?
The examination cost varies depending on the country you are taking the test. Typically, the exam registration fee is found to be the most expensive for the Australina test takers, and least expensive for the UK applicants. The test fees are provided below;

5 GAMSAT Preparation Tips
Those who score well on the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test have prepared well. Here are some strategies that you can apply to ace the exam as well.
- First, understand the GAMSAT dates and exam pattern: Go through the exam dates and note them down. Thereafter, understand the exam pattern. For example, your writing skills and reasoning skills in humanities, social sciences, biology and physical sciences are tested,
- Get to know your strengths and weaknesses: As you study, you will notice that you struggle with certain questions or take longer. Note them down and work upon them. As for your strengths, in the exam, try to solve the questions you know best first.
- Build foundational knowledge and reasoning skills: You need to build your knowledge and your reasoning skills, as both are tested. Learn how to apply your knowledge.
- Practise and practise: Download previous year papers, mock tests, and practise under timed conditions.
- Have a study schedule: You must have a proper study schedule and dedicate at least 3 to 6 months for preparation.

Can you Cancel GAMSAT?
Yes. You can cancel GAMSAT test. You can also receive a refund if requested within 14 days of your registration date. The cancellation can be done by logging into your ACER online account. It is important to note that a refund up to the close of late registrations can result in fee deductions. The fee deductions vary depending on the country.
The refund request has a deadline. Therefore, you must check the GAMSAT Dates for refund. For example, the refund request would close on Monday, 14 July 2025 (10 pm AEST/1 pm BST) for the September 2025 test cycle.

Yes. 77 is considered an excellent GAMSAT score. The examination score above 70 are considered to be very high. Only exceptional students can score 77.
No. The GAMSAT test can only be taken at an authorised test centre in the UK, Ireland, or Australia. You can also choose to take the test at any other valid test centre in the US, Singapore or New Zealand. You will have to travel to the respective country to take the exam.
GAMSAT test centres are not located in India. You will have to visit a country that has an authorised test centre. For example, you choose to take the test in Australia, the UK or Ireland.
The GAMSAT test registration dates are closed for 2025. The testing window for September is between 23 – 24 August 2025 for writing, and between 12 – 14 September 2025 for humanities and biological sciences. The exam dates for next year have not yet been announced. However, the 2026 March registrations are likely to be open in November 2025.
